Uist wildlife photography workshops

Wildlife photography workshops on North Uist and Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides.

The islands of North Uist and Benbecula are without doubt some of the best locations in the UK for wildlife photography. The mix of extensive coastal habitat, moorland, fields and lochs, combined with minimal human disturbance, allows an astonishing abundance of wildlife. Some of Scotland’s most spectacular species are an everyday sight here.

This photography workshop shall focus on the breeding short eared owls and hen harriers which make North Uist and Benbecula their home. There is arguably nowhere else better to photograph these beautiful birds anywhere in the UK. It is commonplace to have close views of multiple individuals of both species during a summer day here, if you know where and when to look.

Additionally, we shall aim to photograph some of the island’s many other bird species – including curlew, lapwing, snipe, redshank, oystercatcher and common sandpiper. Golden eagles and otters are also seen, though far less frequently.
