A unique opportunity to photograph arguably the most impressive bird in the UK – the golden eagle.

It is no surprise that golden eagles are one of the most highly sought-after species to photograph in Scotland. One of the world’s most impressive raptors, these birds are stunningly beautiful, and seeing them up close is a breathtaking experience.

Since 2013, I have been frequently visiting a unique location on the West coast of Scotland. Here, the resident pair of golden eagles regularly fly past at eye-level, searching the ground below for food and patrolling the skies on the look out for other eagles. Whilst it is true that golden eagles have huge territories, these particular birds seem to be extremely faithful to this particular hillside, often visiting numerous times each day, throughout the year.

Finding reliable locations such as this, away from a nest, is extremely rare for golden eagles. I’m delighted to say that I have had around a 90% success rate for photographing eagles in this location since 2013, based on dozens of visits. We also regularly see white-tailed eagles, ravens and kestrels, and pods of common dolphins are often spotted in the water below.

This workshop is aimed at photographers who want to see and photograph wild golden eagles in amongst the breathtaking scenery of the West coast of Scotland. As with all of my guided photography workshops, I am there to provide as much or as little photographic guidance as you require. Whilst many of my guests are enthusiastic nature lovers wishing to take their photography to the next level, it is equally common for me to guide award-winning semi-professionals.

PLEASE NOTE – this workshop involves walking on steep, rough ground, in proximity to some big drops. Please consider this before booking, or I am happy to discuss this with you further upon enquiry.
